How 'bout shopping?
Time to reminisce. I made a passing reference to this story in a previous posting.
When Andrew was born, he had his mom and I to himself for almost 6 years. When Bethany (child # 2) was born, my wife and I decided to have a 1-night-per-week "boys night out" for Andrew and I. This was an attempt to make sure that he wasn't losing out on time with us due to his new sister.
Boys night out continued for quite a while. It didn't happen every week, but nearly so.
...Time passed...
Bethany is now somewhere between 1 and 2 years old. She is definitely following many of the cliches and stereotypes of being a girl by now. It was amazing to see how she got into picking out her own clothes before she could even walk! Anyway, she is able to walk and has a funny little run with hands down at her side and a kind of waddle to her body.
So one night, Andrew and I are in the living room discussing what to do for boys night out. Bethany gets a sudden look of inspiration on her face. She does her hands-at-her-side waddle/run across the room to us and tosses out this exuberant suggestion with a huge grin on her face:
"How 'bout shopping? That'd be fun!"

As long as its 'shopping' and not 'Buying' ...eh? One thing about living in Roseburg is our Mall could fit inside one So Cal store. Personally I am like to know what I'm going to get, head to the location go in, buy it, and get out. Like a surgical strike force. Sure people die.....
So - guess what my teen girls want to do with their cookie money??
Go shopping!!! In Portland!!! Roseburg apparently won't contain them. I think they know everything each store has already anyway.
Ah, it brings back memories of knawing on "white break up" in the ol' Huntington Center. Penney's used to have a candy counter & 50 cents got you a pretty big chunk. I think it was supposed to be white chocolate. At least See's still gives you a free candy even if you just buy a lollipop.
