Hayley & Volleyball - 1st Season Over

Our family's first youth sports season is over. It went great! Hayley made it to every practice and game. I made it to every game, but only 2 practices. Hayley may not make it to the Olympics, but she did very well. She pushed herself on skills -- especially on the overhand serve. She was a good team player, although it was frustrating for her when her teammates did not play as a team as well. Despite that, the team did well together and seemed to have fun.

This was a good family event too. Once the real games started (we never kept score, but we did play against teams from other parks) the rest of the family and the Grandmas came out to watch. We had one Saturday rain-out, but otherwise the weather was on our side.

Bethany enjoyed watching so much that she wanted to sign up. The next league starts in the Spring and we will be there with two girls on the court!

Hey that's great! I'm glad it was such a good experience.

Diana is supposed to do a sport to be "well-rounded" on her college applications & National Honor Society.

Except she's not into sports at all. She enjoyed fencing at the Y, but that's a little too expensive, and I don't know if it counted for school anyway.

Then she was going to try for badminton, but there's no team this year.

I'm just like Diana. I was going to be on the badminton team too. That's kind of a wimpy "I'm only doing this because I need a sport" kind of sport.

My team disbanded too. *sigh*

So, I'm glad your girls are interested in a REAL sport that people go to see & participate in - and they're in the Olympics!

w00t!

hmmm 'Rain-out' Not sure thats in the Oregon Lexicon

Welcome to the world of Volleyball Dads.

I'm still doing the soccer thing: playoffs start this weekend, so the season will be over in 1-4 weekends, depending on how the kids play.
