100 Squares

My grandmother-in-law (my mother-in-law's mother) turns 100 years old today. The family went to visit her last weekend. One of the gifts we brought was a quilt that my wife made with 100 fabric squares - 1 per year. Not only was it very cool (as are all of her quilts - she has made over 50 at this point), but she made it from start to finish in 1 week! Normally they take from several months to a number of years to make one.

I don't have a very good picture to share, but I will try to post some later. Here is what I have for now.

That's a really awesome gift. I think quilts are wonderful. Eventually I'd like a set up in my house for sewing, but it will probably require a kid to move out :) I have a decent machine, but it's just a basic Huskystar. I only needed it to do stretch stitches! In the meantime, I'll keep knitting my scarves & such.

Nice job, Celeste!

20 something years ago my Mom took me to a fabric store and had me pick out colors I could see, (shades of yellow, black, white) and made a very dramatic quilt for me. She has entered it in a variety of quilt shows....She's also made many quilts for fund raisers. Saving the world through quilting.
