Jet Lag?
I traveled to New Zealand in December = 21 hours ahead of my home.
The following week I traveled to Sweden = 9 hours ahead of my home and 12 hours behind where I had been the week before (talk about turning the schedule around).
This week I am in the United Kingdom = 9 hours ahead of my home.
Jet Lag? I have to admit that I have felt some minor effects during this travel. However, it really has not hit me like I thought it would. I'm told that day 2 is often the worst day -- I'll see how tomorrow goes.
Maybe I am a "Travel Savant" when it comes to Jet Lag?

If you can sleep on the plane, and then stick to the clock of the place you visit, you can usually do okay with the jet lag. It didn't typically bother me much when I'd go to Germany. There's enough exciting stuff going on with all the new things to see that I don't feel very tired unless I'm thinking "Hey - it's 3:00 am my time!"
I suppose it depends on if you're a person that can sleep easily too. If you have trouble in a strange room/bed, whatever, I'd expect you to take longer getting over jet lag.
So how's the food?

I did the opposite for sleep - I slept a couple of hours at most on the plane. When I arrived in UK, it was early evening. I was not overly tired, but by 10pm local time I was tired enough to go to sleep quickly and sleep through the night.
The food has been good with some of it very good. Most has been basic stuff though: eggs, back bacon, BLT sandwiches, etc. The two actual restaurants I have gotten to try have been very good (but short of excellent).

Does jet lag hit more east to west compared to west to east? I've heard it does....My schedule ahs always been fluid. As long as I sleep 8 hours in 24, I do fine. Doesn't matter when I get the 8. At work if we were out all night for something they'll let me sleep during the day. I sleep better when I'm on the clock
I found that making sure that I was tired enough to sleep at the "right" time worked for me when going in both directions.
On the way to Europe, that meant getting a few hours of sleep on the plane during the "overnight" portion of the trip - but not more than that. I don't naturally sleep on planes anyway, so no problem there. When I got there, I kept myself occupied until around 10pm local time and went to sleep just fine.
On the way home, I managed a nap of about 1 hour. I ended up being awake for about 27 hours or so with just that 1 hour nap in the middle. Again, I was ready to go to sleep at around 11pm local time at home and did just fine with being awake through the weekend.
So for me, the direction of travel didn't make a difference.
