Finlandia Hall

Yesterday's post was me in front of Finlandia Hall. Contrary to yesterday's guesses, it is not a vodka factory nor is it my planned retirement home.

It is used for concerts and large meetings. It was designed by a famous Finnish architect. The plans started the same year I was born. It is a source of architectural pride for the Finnish people.

As you can see from one of the photos, the temperature was 19C (upper 60s in Fahrenheit). That is a heat wave for Helsinki in September! They were amazed that back home for me in California it was barely falling below 19C overnight and days were nearly reaching 40c (104F). They could not imagine living in such a hot place!
